Furniture proportions- why do they matter?

Why furniture proportions are so important in your interiors

Hi Interior’s Enthusiast!,

Happy Saturday. I hope you have a fun weekend ahead of you. I’m hoping to see the new Wicked film, can’t wait!

The week let’s talk about furniture proportions.

You may have seen my recent instagram video explaining what I mean, you can watch it below.

Why Furniture Proportions Matter for Your Home

  1. Achieves a Balanced Look
Choosing furniture with the right proportions creates a sense of balance and flow in your home. Oversized items can overwhelm a space, making it feel cramped, while undersized pieces can look out of place and a bit lonely. Well-proportioned furniture ensures your rooms feel welcoming and visually harmonious.

  2. Makes Your Space Practical
Furniture that fits the size of your rooms (and is proportionate to surrounding furniture) makes your home more functional. A large sofa in a small living room can block pathways, while a tiny dining table in a spacious area may feel awkward. Picking the right-sized pieces allows you to move around comfortably and use your spaces efficiently.

  3. Enhances Your Home’s Style
Proportionate furniture complements your home’s architectural features, like high ceilings or large windows, giving your spaces a cohesive and stylish appearance. It shows attention to detail and makes your home feel thoughtfully designed.

In last weeks newsletter I sent you the second of my Gift Guides, if you want to find the rest of my Christmas gifting ideas click the button below to be taken to my storefront (LTK). You might even get some discounts as it’s Cyber weekend!

This week I’ve been up to London to visit the Ideal Home Show- Christmas. I was kindly invited by Laura Ashley who have some fab Christmas bits, so definitely check them out.

I’ve also been busy building some fun edits for Christmas decorating, the first of which will go out tomorrow on Instagram so keep your eyes peeled for that! I don’t really believe in buying a whole new set of decorations every year, it seems so wasteful! I like to curate my decs over the years and the sillier the better in my book.

Here are a couple of my favourites, click on the images to check them out. Keep your eyes peeled for the full edit on Instagram tomorrow. Happy Decorating!
